What is the Best Time to Drink Celery Juice?
After researching the best time to drink celery juice, the overwhelming conclusion is to drink it first thing in the morning.
I find it challenging to make celery juice at a very early hour so I drink mine later in the day.
It’s a good option if you drink the juice 15 to 30 minutes before or after food.
You can also prepare it ahead of time and refrigerate but it’s always best when consumed immediately after juicing the celery.
How Much Celery Juice Should you Drink?
I started with 8 ounces a day and worked my way up to 16 ounces. During my research, I discovered that 16 ounces provides the most benefits.
You can drink more if that works for you, up to 24 to 32 ounces per day to get even greater health benefits.
How much celery to make 16 oz of celery juice?
Celery is sold in various sizes so it depends on what you buy. I get a large bunch from Whole Foods Markets to make about 16 oz. of celery juice. The stalks have great length to them.
On the other hand, I also buy the organic celery at Trader Joe’s which includes 2 bunches in a package. These celery are shorter stalks so I need to both bunches to make the same 16 ounces.
How to Make Celery Juice
It’s very simple to make celery juice. First, you will need a juicer (see below) or blender.
- Cut the tips and tail of the celery.
- Wash thoroughly. There is usually dirt on celery unless you buy celery stalks in a package that have been cut and washed
- Cut the celery stalks to a size that fits in your juicer.
- Put your celery stalks in the juicer and make a nutritious drink!
What are the Best Juicers?
There are two main types of juicers: masticating and centrifugal.
You are likely familiar with the term “cold pressed.” That’s exactly what a masticating juicer does and the preferred method for juicing celery.
Masticating juicers extract juice more slowly without generating a lot of heat. They also extract as much juice as possible while preserving most of the nutrients in the celery. Another plus is they are much quieter than centrifugal juicers.
Centrifugal juicers use high-speed spinning that grinds the food into pulp while extracting the juice.
A lot of heat is generated from the spinning and they tend to be very noisy. I use one and it makes a lot of noise! I don’t mind. The juice is delicious!
Supposedly the heat causes nutrient loss. You’ll also notice more bubbles or foam in the celery juice. Centrifugal juicers are usually less expensive than masticating juicers but it really depends on brand and quality.
Here are three of the best juicers for making your celery juice.

Breville Juice Fountain
The Breville Juice Fountain is a centrifugal juicer. I own one and use it daily. I love it! It has an extra-wide 3-inch feeder chute that makes it easy to put in lots of cut celery stalks. It takes about 5 seconds to get 8 ounces of juice.
It has two speeds and is dishwasher safe. I admit that it’s a pain to take apart and wash, but it’s simple to do and the juice is delicious!
