Do you ever feel stressed? It’s very common in today’s world and everyone is usually too busy to deal with it.
When those anxious feelings kick in, they can interfere with your health. When I was facing a great deal of negative stress in my life, it seemed like I was sick all the time.
I didn’t take a pause to take care of myself and deal with the stress which led to some depression.
It can be a vicious cycle!
Stress can cause more problems than you ever imagined like weight gain, joint issues, sleep problems, headaches and much more.
Stress doesn’t go away on its own – although we wish it would!
The good news?
Here are some simple solutions that you can use to manage your daily stress for a calmer mind and body. These are not in any particular order.
Choose whichever one resonates with you!
1. Go outdoors and breathe in fresh air.
Getting outdoors is usually my go-to solution for destressing. Reconnecting with nature helps to refocus. If you can go for a nice walk or hike, even better.
The beach is also very soothing and can help you relax your body and mind. When you get your body moving in the fresh air, it can make a world of difference.
I realize that the weather is not always ideal. I am not fond of the cold at all. But I find that when I bundle up and walk for just ten minutes, it makes a difference.
If getting outside is not possible, you can always grab some Vetiver essential oil. Known for its grounding effect on emotions, it’s wonderful to diffuse.
2. Do some breathing exercises
There have been times where my stress levels went so high I was not even breathing properly!
I learned some breathing exercises that really work to destress my body. It’s helpful for focusing. I learned it from Dr. Weil.
You can do the breathing exercise anywhere and it can help you relax.
To do this exercise, breath only through your nose.
- Count to four while deeply inhaling.
- Count to seven while holding your breath.
- Count to eight while you exhale.
Do this cycle three times to slow everything down and relax.
If you are able to do a Yoga session, it’s another wonderful way to relax and revitalize your body with positive energy.
3. Exercise for 30 minutes per day
Exercise is a natural stress reducer. I exercise 6 days a week with a variety of activities. You don’t need to join a gym or anything like that. You can but it’s not necessary.
Even going for a 30-minute walk in your neighborhood or doing a Yoga session at home will help lower your stress levels.
Exercise increases your endorphins and helps improve your mood!
4. Meditate daily for at least 10 minutes
Meditation can help you feel grounded physically and mentally. It’s especially helpful if you are in a constant stressful situation.
There are many ways to meditate. You can use the traditional seated meditation. Focus on your breath and be aware of your thoughts without judgement.
Be aware of your body while diffusing calming essential oils like Lavender and Frankincense.
Another way to practice is through walking meditation. It’s my favorite way to be more mindful and always helps to me to see a clear path through the stress.
5. Drink warm herbal tea
Are you a caffeine lover? Me too!
But, there are times when herbal tea is the better choice. Some can have a calming effect like lemon balm, peppermint (my fav) and chamomile.
You can also infuse a drop essential oils like Lavender or Roman Chamomile into herbal teas. They can help soothe your mind and body.
6. Use PastTense® or doTERRA Peace®
These are two of my favorite essential oils. They are super easy to use. You can carry them in your purse!
PastTense is a soothing and grounding blend. These two essential oils can be applied to the back of your neck, wrists or temples to help ease anxious feelings.
7. Unplug from all electronics
Gasp! Sometimes, just unplugging from the online world can make a world of difference for de-stressing. I stopped watching TV news many years ago and wow! What a difference that small change made in my life.
With so much negativity on TV news and often in social media, unplugging from it all can be the best thing for relieving stress. Just try it for an hour or so and see what happens.
Conclusion
Don’t let stress ruin your health or interfere wtih your daily life experience. Take a moment and use one or more of the above solutions. You’ll be amazed after putting them into practice, what a difference these de-stressers can make in your life!
