Grove Collaborative has posted ads all over social media for their FREE Mrs. Meyers & Grove Caddy Set! I’ve seen their free promo for what seems like forever.
I finally took them up on their free offer of non-toxic cleaning products to see what all the hype is about. Who doesn’t like free stuff?

What is Grove Collaborative?
Grove Collaborative is an online company that provides safe, environmentally-friendly products. All products must meet their standards for being non-toxic, effective, sustainable, and cruelty-free.
I love that! I was in!
They are a Certified B Corporation, which are companies that adhere to the most rigorous standards for prioritizing social, environmental, and community wellbeing.
And they have a free promo offer!
Now, deep inside you know that nothing is really free, right?
Let’s dig into why you may or may not love Grove Collaborative.
Grove Collaborative Free Promo Offer
Their free offer changes from time to time. Here’s what mine included:
- Mrs. Meyers Hand Soap
- Mrs. Meyers Dish Soap
- Grove Collaborative Cleaning Caddy
- Grove Collaborative – Walnut Scrubber Sponge, Set of 2
- Seedling by Grove – Jumbo Roll Tree-Free Paper Towels – 2 Rolls
- Seedling by Grove – 3-Ply Jumbo Roll Tree-Free Toilet Paper – 4 Rolls
That’s a total of over $36.00 worth of free, awesome products!
Here’s the catch, which I was perfectly fine with.
You must make a minimum $20.00 purchase to get the free products.
I added 3 more things that I actually needed to my shopping cart for a total of $21.43:
- Dr. Bronner’s – Organic Sugar Soap Lavender
- Bon Ami – Powder Cleanser
- Grove Collaborative – Kitchen Towel, Set of 2
I thought it was a fair deal and was excited to get my stuff.
I wasn’t super impressed with their shipping. I placed the order on February 22. Three days later, I received an email saying that my shipment was delayed. But … there was no indication of when the items might be shipped.
They did offer a free item with my next order.
On March 1, I contacted customer support and they couldn’t tell me either. Frustration set in but Grove Collaborative credited my account $10 to use towards my next order.
My order finally arrived on March 4. I love everything I received. By the way, the paper towels and toilet paper came in boxes, not plastic wrap.
What About Grove Collaborative Auto Shipments?
After your first Grove order (yep, that free + $20 order) they set you up with personalized, scheduled Grove shipments. You’ll see the items you purchased automatically in the cart for your next shipment. By default, orders come every month, but the frequency and products in each order are completely up to you!
Although, they will send you a reminder about the auto-shipment. Just be sure to set it up the way you want or cancel altogether.
If you do not want the auto-shipments, you must go to the cart and empty it right away!
I’ve seen many people complain about receiving shipments they didn’t want. If you manage your shipments as I mentioned, you won’t have that problem! It’s a simple few clicks and you’re done.
Grove VIP Membership
I also discovered that I was automatically signed up for the Grove VIP membership. It’s $19.99 a year and you get it for FREE for about 2 months (I honestly don’t remember.)
I got on the Customer Support chat and asked them to cancel it right away – which they did.
Is Grove Collaborative Worth it?
That depends. I love the clean, non-toxic products but don’t love auto-shipments. I wasn’t happy with their lack of shipping information but I can let that go.
Shopping online for great products is nice if you are busy and like convenience. Just be sure to manage your Grove Collaborative shopping cart so you don’t end up with shipments that you don’t want.
After you get that first wonderful free shipment of products, you can order whenever you like without any auto-shipments.
